Antibacterial Activity of Pterocarpus santalinus
Antibacterial activity of leaf and stem bark of Pterocarpus santalinus (Fabaceae) was investigated. The antibacterial activity was tested against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Among the two extracts tested, stem bark extract exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against the tested organisms. The stem bark extract showed maximum activity against Enterobacter aerogenes...
متن کاملIn vitro propagation of Solidago virgaurea L. through nodal culture
A reliable in vitro propagation protocol has been established from nodal segments of a highly valuable medicinal plant Solidago virgaurea L. The explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog’s medium augmented with different concentrations and combinations of plant growth regulators for shoot bud initiation and multiplications. Highest frequency of shoot proliferation (91.8 ± 0.64) and maximum ...
متن کاملHepatoprotective activity of Pterocarpus santalinus L.f., an endangered medicinal plant
Objective: To evaluate the hepatoprotective activity of crude aqueous and ethanol stem bark extracts of Pterocarpus santalinus (Fabaceae) using CCl 4 induced hepatic damage in male Wistar albino rats. Department of Botany, Materials and Methods: The aqueous (45 mg/ml) and ethanol (30 mg/ml) extracts of S.R.N.M.N. College of Applied stem bark in 1% gum tragacanth was administered orally for 14 d...
متن کاملA new acylated isoflavone glucoside from Pterocarpus santalinus.
Phytochemical investigation on the constituents of heartwood of Pterocarpus santalinus resulted in the isolation of a new acylated isoflavone glucoside. The structure of the new compound was elucidated on the basis of spectral studies as 4',5-dihydroxy-7-O-methyl isoflavone 3'-O-D-(3''-E-cinnamoyl)glucoside.
متن کاملIn vitro propagation of Hemidesmus indicus ( L . ) R . Br . ( Iramusu ) through nodal culture
The effects of different nodal positions and 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) concentrations on shoot development from nodal explants of Hemidesmus indicus (L.) Br. (Iramusu) were investigated. The highest number of shoots per explant (2.57±0.97) was observed in 4 nodal position, while the longest shoot length (3.23± 0.52 cm) was achieved in 5 nodal position at 2 mg/L BAP with 0.1 mg/L Naphthalene Ace...
